NeuroID International
As part of Brain Infections Global (An NIHR Global Health Research Group on Improving the Management of Acute Brain Infections) we have been establishing the highly successful NeuroID Course internationally. The Neurological Infectious Diseases Course is an internationally renowned 2-day CPD course aimed at clinicians of all grades (including medical students) working in Adult and Paediatric Neurology, Infectious Diseases, Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Medical Microbiology who want to update their knowledge and improve their skills. The course aims to cover all the common and important neurological infections, as well some rarer conditions, with the emphasis very much on practical approaches to the problems encountered on wards and in outpatients clinics.
Malawi: Blantyre
The Liverpool NeuroID course will take place in Blantyre, Malawi, on 11th and 12th July 2024. Further details to follow.
India: Bangalore
The University of Liverpool's NeuroID course took place at NIMHANS in Bangalore, India, on 16th and 17th February 2024. Over 200 delegates attended the 2-day course, hosted by Dr Netravathi M, for its first occurrence at NIMHANS, and the event was a resounding success.
We were delighted to have a keynote talk on Viral Encephalitis by Prof V Ravi, former professor at NIMHANS. Speakers from India included Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, Dr Gagandeep Singh and Dr Priscilla Rupali; and from University of Liverpool, Dr Lance Turtle and Dr Sylviane Defres. The event also included interactive panel discussions, poster competition, quiz and a visit to the NIMHANS Brain Museum.

Brazil
The University of Liverpool's NeuroID course took place overseas for the third time on 20th & 21st October 2022 with a very successful edition held in Brazil at the Real Hospital Português in Recife.
The 2-day course was hosted by Prof Tom Solomon of Liverpool University and Dr Maria Lucia Brito Ferreira of Hospital of Restauração, Recife. We were delighted to have a keynote talk on Advances in Cerebral Malaria by Prof Charles Newton of Oxford University, UK. There were also presentations from Prof Netravathi M of NIMHANS, India; Dr Tamara Phiri of Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Malawi; Prof Sanjith Aaron of Christian Medical College, India; Dr Bianca Etelvina Oliveria of Centro Hospital da Restauração, Brazil and Dr Fernanda Cristina Rueda Lopez of Universidade Federal de Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Malawi
The University of Liverpool's NeuroID course took place overseas for the second time on 13th & 14th January with a very successful edition held in Malawi at the Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust in Blantyre, attended by over 100 specialists in Neurological Infectious Diseases from across Malawi.
The 2-day course was hosted by Prof Tom Solomon of Liverpool University and Dr Jen Cornick of MLW. We were delighted to have key speakers such as Dr Sam Kampondeni, a radiologist from Malawi and Dr Karl Seydel of Michigan State University currently based in Blantyre. There were also presentations from our BIGlobal participants inlcuding Dr V Ravi of NIMHANS, India; Dr Camila Pimentel from Brazil; Dr Benedict Michael from the UK and Dr Mac Mallewa from Malawi. India: Vellore
The University of Liverpool’s NeuroID course took place overseas for the very first time on 11th & 12th July 2019 in India at the Christian Medical College, Vellore.
The 2-day course was hosted by Prof Tom Solomon of the University of Liverpool and Prof Priscilla Rupali of the Christian Medicine College. There were also presentations from our Brain Infections Global participants including Prof V Ravi of NIMHANS, India; Dr Lucia Brito from Brazil; Dr Christopher Parry and Dr Benedict Michael from the UK; and Dr Mac Mallewa from Malawi.
