Our MBA is a campus-based face-to-face programme. Teaching on all programmes has been carefully thought through and adapted to give students the best possible experience, however, different modules will utilise formats best suited to the module content and learning outcomes.
In-person teaching
In-person learning sessions will offer the valuable opportunity to participate in case activities and discussions, interacting with colleagues and academic staff to learn. Typically, this will account for five teaching hours per week for each module over a five-week period. This structure is designed from student feedback.
We all recognise the value of face-to-face interaction in our own day-to-day lives, and how much it can impact our overall wellbeing. This is why, wherever possible, you will be expected to attend these on-campus sessions because we believe they are a really important part of your learning experience while at University.
Group Working
To support each module, you will participate in group activities and peer-to-peer discussions. We anticipate that these will be completed on-campus, although you may decide to undertake some online utilising platforms like Zoom or MS Team which everyone will have institutional access to.
The activities will comprise a mix of tasks (e.g. discussion, preparation of material for class sessions, cases etc) that will enable you to develop effective collaborative learning with peers and deepen your understanding of the programme content. You will be expected to actively participate in these activities, with as much time as you can dedicate to them.
Online learning
In-person teaching will be supported by online materials that support a greater depth of learning in our classroom environments. Many of our online activities will be in preparation for an on-campus face-to-face session where you can then engage and deepen your understanding through active learning activities.
Some sessions will be recordings, case studies, quizzes and academic papers for you to work through at a time of your choosing. You can set the pace, go back as many times as you like to topics that you are unsure of, and take breaks as and when needed. Typically, we’d expect you to dedicate at least one hour per module, per week working through online learning materials to ensure you get the most out of the face-to-face sessions and contribute effectively.
Where possible, we also record lectures and upload these onto our virtual learning environment so you can go back and review content. However, these are not a substitute for in-class participation as workshops, seminars and tutorials are not recorded given their interactive small group breakout design.
