Why Europe is lesbian and gay friendly (and why America never will be)

This flagship event took place during LGBT History Month 2016 and included introductions by Professor Janet Beer, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and Dr Alan Greaves from Flagship.

Angelia Wilson is Professor of Politics at the University of Manchester. Her 2013 book, 'Why Europe is Lesbian & Gay Friendly (and why America ever will be)', reflects the intersections of her research in LGBT politics, welfare policy, religion and American politics.

Currently, her work focuses on the US Christian Right and the construction of social values as a political strategy.
