Getting here

The University campus is located in the heart of the city of Liverpool, close to many major transport links.

Arriving by air

Arriving at Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is around eight miles from the city centre and offers flights from various parts of Europe. A low-cost bus service from the airport to the city centre is operated by Merseytravel. You could also get an Uber or private taxi. Learn more about onward transport links on the Liverpool John Lennon Airport website.

Arriving at Manchester Airport

Manchester Airport, which is around 45 minutes from Liverpool, is the closest airport for flights from around the world. There is a direct rail service from Manchester airport train station to Liverpool Lime Street, the main Liverpool city centre train station, and direct coaches to Liverpool.

You could also get an Uber or private taxi, which will be quicker than the train or coach, but usually more expensive. Learn more about onward travel on the Manchester Airport website.

Arriving at one of the London airports

We recommend booking your flight to Manchester airport rather than London where possible, as this makes your onward journey easier.

Travelling from London airports to Liverpool by train

If you do need to fly to one of the London airports, you can get a direct train from London Euston train station to Liverpool Lime Street train station. The journey by train takes around two hours. Find out more about train times and ticket prices on the National Rail website.

Please note, you will still need to travel from whichever London airport you are arriving at, to the train station, as the airports are not in the centre of London. The fastest way to get to London Euston train station from one of the airports is usually via tube, the London underground train service. Learn more about travelling on the tube on the Transport for London website. You could also get an Uber or private taxi, which may take longer but could be more practical if you have a lot of luggage with you.

Travelling from London airports to Liverpool by coach

You could also plan your onward journey into Liverpool via coach. The coach station in Liverpool is Liverpool One bus station, in the city centre. Find times and ticket prices on the National Express website.

Arriving by road or rail

Our closest train station is Liverpool Lime Street, which is around a 10-minute walk or five-minute drive to campus.

If you’re travelling into Liverpool by coach, you will arrive at Liverpool One bus station, which is in the city centre, around a 20-minute walk or 10-minute drive to campus. Find out more about travelling by coach, including times and ticket prices on the National Express website.

Planning your onward journey to your accommodation

When planning your arrival, you should think about when and how you can check in to your accommodation in Liverpool. For example, if your flight arrives late in the evening and you are unable to check in to your accommodation at that time, you could book a hotel at the airport, so that you can travel to Liverpool the following day. Find out more about airport hotels on the Manchester Airport website.

Before you travel, you should plan when you will collect your keys and check in to your accommodation. Make sure you have contact details for your accommodation provider and you know their opening hours. Remember to keep these details with you when you travel.

If you book transport from the airport to your accommodation in advance, remember to leave enough time to clear immigration and collect your luggage. If you're travelling by train for example, you can book flexible tickets that are valid for travel on several different train services, if you are delayed.
