    Personal Statement

    I am Lecturer in Finance at the University of Liverpool since 01 April 2000. Before this appointment, I was Lecturer in Finance at the University of Manchester, and the University of Strathclyde. I obtained PhD in Finance from the University of Strathclyde. Before that, I worked in public sector holding different positions and finally as a Director of Finance Department, in Ethiopia.

    My research areas include: mutual fund performance evaluation; bankruptcy risk, liquidity and equity returns; initial and long-run performance of public offerings; capital structure; analyst recommendations and equity returns; etc. I have published in Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of Financial Markets Institutions and Money, European Journal of Finance, etc. I have a book chapter in the Handbook of Frontier Markets (forthcoming). I have experience in international collaboration with academics and institutions at the Hawassa University in Ethiopia, China Social Science Academy, Kasetsart University in Thailand, University of Plattsburgh in USA, University of Jordan, University of Benghazi in Libya, Sidama Microfinance Institution, and Sidama Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union, etc.
