Final year undergraduate Marketing and Business Management students from the University of Liverpool Management School visited Iris, a renowned marketing agency headquartered in London. The visit, which took place at the beginning of March, offered students a unique opportunity to delve into the world of marketing, gain practical insights and interact with industry professionals.

At Iris headquarters, students engaged in a series of activities designed to provide them with a firsthand understanding of the agency's operations. They were introduced to various departments within Iris, including Strategy, Account Management and Creative. Staff members shared insights into their roles and career journeys, offering invaluable advice to aspiring marketers.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Client Challenge, where students collaborated in teams to tackle a Gen-Z marketing problem creatively. Following this session, students presented their findings and ideas to the Iris team.

The students then had a Q&A session with Ian Millner, CEO of Iris. Ian shared insights into his career journey, the formation of Iris, and the agency's future plans. He also reflected on his memories of studying at the University of Liverpool, inspiring the students with his experiences and expertise.

Simon Bailey, a final year marketing student, described the visit to Iris as 'the number one highlight of the week. We had the opportunity to learn about the company, participate in a group task, and luckily a Q&A session with the CEO Ian Millner. I am proud to have been involved in a memorable trip, with a great group of people. Thank you to those involved for making it a great time.'

Matt Madeira, a final year marketing student also said how 'a highlight for me was our visit to Iris a worldwide marketing agency, where we presented our response to a company’s brief. Engaging with various members of the Iris team and participating in a stimulating Q & A session with Ian Millner. Thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable trip possible!'

Melisa Berisha, Talent Manager at Iris said ‘It was a pleasure having students from the University of Liverpool in the office. Their innovative marketing strategies in response to our brief were truly insightful, and they tackled each task with great skill. It was a super fun day filled with valuable discussions. Thank you all for coming to meet us!’

Rachel Spence, Lecturer and Director of Studies in Marketing at the University of Liverpool commented how 'Along with a Q&A session as well as networking, hugely appreciated were insights into different roles, a creative game, the opportunity to work on a client challenge, present a range of ideas and receive live feedback (well done to our amazing students for your great ideas and presentations!). Thank you, Ian Millner, for sharing your journey and insights and thank you to the Iris team for such a welcoming, interactive, and immersive day for our students.'

The visit to Iris was an enriching experience for the students, offering them a glimpse into the dynamic world of marketing and providing valuable lessons for their future careers. A big thank you to alumnus Ian Milner and Iris for organising and hosting.
