About Clare

With a professional background in accounting and finance, Professor Claire Mallanaphy has developed an impressive career in business and academia, with high profile roles in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

At the Management School, she is the current Deputy Dean Education and Student Experience, as well as a member of the Management Committee.

Clare has worked at our School since 2009, holding a number of roles, including the Director of Studies for the BA Accounting and Finance programme, and the Associate Head of the Economics, Finance and Accounting Group.

Prior to moving into education, she developed a professional career as a qualified chartered accountant at the Liverpool-based accounting firm, Grant Thornton.

Clare is also an assessor for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the largest global accountancy professional body, and holds a quality assurance role at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

As a scholar, Clare is a member of the British Academy of Management (BAM) Council and the Management, Knowledge and Education Committee.

Clare is passionate about learning, teaching and the overall student experience and has undertaken research in these areas.

As well as being invited as guest speaker at many Universities and conferences to discuss these topics, Clare has been awarded with the Sir Alastair Pilkington and Faculty Learning and Teaching.

She has a track record in developing programmes and modules and teaching related to her expertise in Financial Reporting, and she is also
interested in employability and graduate outcomes of our students.

Clare is working with a number of local and international professional firms in this area and has strong relationships with professional accountancy bodies and other networks, including the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) and BAM.
