    About

    Personal Statement

I am Dean of the School of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool.

Life Sciences oversees Education in undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. We have over 1400 students and work with over 140 academic staff, and 40 professional services staff.

Life Sciences covers a wide range of UG subject areas ranging through Biochemistry & Pharmacology, Microbiology, Genetics, Biomedical programmes (including Anatomy, Biomed Sci, Tropical Disease Biology), and whole-organism biology (Bioveterinary and Zoology).

My own background is in evolutionary biology, including a focus on computational approaches to phylogenetics and evolutionary modelling. I have particular interests in why plant metabolisms can be so diverse, and how to measure whether evolutionary convergence is an inevitability.
