About

Personal Statement

I obtained my Engineering degree from Cambridge in 1975 and completed my PhD there in 1979. I was appointed to a 3 year research fellowship at Clare College, Cambridge in 1978. I spent 9 months working as a theoretical aerodynamicist at Rolls Royce during 1980, before joining the staff at Liverpool as a lecturer also in 1980. I became a senior lecturer in 1994.
My primary research goal is the understanding of turbulence generation mechanisms which will enable accurate prediction of turbulent losses and also the development of effective methods for turbulent drag reduction e.g. on aircraft. This work has led to expertise in the development of innovative CFD methods and advanced experimental data analysis.
