Re/Search in the Digital Age

Friday 31st October 2014

Venue: Baltic Creative

Speakers: Niamh Thornton (University of Liverpool), Mark Carrigan (Warwick), Melodee Beals (Sheffield Hallam University), Nadine Muller (LJMU) and Martin Wolf (University of Liverpool)

This day-long event concentrated on the challenges and opportunities associated with developing as a researcher in an age where digital tools, resources, platforms and both access to and use of these is becoming ever more central to academic work in all disciplines and fields. In addition to talks and discussions, there was plenty of scope for exchanging ideas with others. Issues addressed included:

  • Publishing and dissemination of content
  • Engaging with social networks and building an online profile
  • Open access and open source
  • Tools that help re/search
  • New questions, new methods, new data, new problems

Marking the start of the 2014-15 programme, this event was aimed at all researchers in the arts and humanities, the social sciences, health and life sciences and engineering and the natural sciences interested in digital research.
