Schwann cells are well known to serve the function of myelination of peripheral nerves. However, they also house nonmyelinated nerves in "tidy" bundles see below. Usually, one thinks of a Schwann Cell simply wrapping an axon in myelin: However, even unmyelinated axons are "ensheathed" in Schwann Cells. There is no myelin here, the axons are simply held in invaginations of the Schwann Cell's cytoplasm:
