Algebraic Geometry, Singularities and Knot Theory
Final call - 31 August 2005

Applications are invited from students currently registered for doctoral studies in a country other than the UK to spend periods of between 3 months and one academic year working as fellows in the Division of Pure Mathematics. The project must form an integral part of the fellow's doctoral studies and must be completed before the award of the PhD. The subject areas covered by LIMITS are algebraic geometry, singularities and knot theory; the current members of the group are
        Algebraic geometry: Peter Newstead, Viacheslav Nikulin, Aleksandr Pukhlikov
        Singularities: Peter Giblin, Victor Goryunov, Vladimir Zakalyukin
        Knot theory: Hugh Morton.
Further information about the research interests of the Division can be found here.

Each Fellow will receive a subsistence allowance of 1200 euros per month for the duration of the Fellowship and will have access to the same facilities as the department's own doctoral students.   No fees will be charged by the department or the university for these facilities.  Funds are available for Fellows to travel to approved conferences and to visit other research centres in the UK.  The cost of one return journey between the Fellow's most recent centre of activity and Liverpool is also covered. In addition there will be opportunities for travel to other UK Universities and to attend and make presentations at conferences.

To be eligible you must be
    (a) a national of a Member State of the EC other than the UK or of an Associated State, or resident in the Community for at least the last five years;
    (b) registered for doctoral studies in a country other than the UK;
