Empirical models of transitions between coral reef states

This code implements the methods described in Lowe et al. 2011 , Empirical models of transitions between coral reef states: effects of regions, marine protected areas, and environmental change scenarios. PLoS ONE 6(11):e26339. The paper is available here. We obtain Bayesian estimates of discrete-time Markov models for transitions between a set of reef states defined by coral and macroalgal cover.

Instructions for use

Download and unzip this Matlab code (creates directory coralMarkov). Change to this directory, start Matlab (requires the statistics toolbox), and type example_script to run an example.
