Theme 2 - 4th Research Staff Conference

Demonstrating Impact in our Research; From Research Themes, to REF2014 and Personal Aspirations

In these parallel sessions, participants will discuss with the session presenter how researchers realise and demonstrate Impact in their research. "Impact" as a term is used extensively and widely. The interpretation of Research Impact under current economic pressures and institutional research strategies and themes may influence the professional development of reserachers.

For the REF2014 purposes, Research Impact is defined as: "an effect on, change or benefit to the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment or quality of life, beyond academia"

The aim of this sessino is to discuss, inform and inspire Liverpool Researchers as they move forward with their career plans in the pursuit of a thriving research career.

Presenters for these parallel sessions are experienced researchers and will explore the following topics: - Processes of demonstrating research impact
- Aligning research strategies to meet current assessment criteria
- Relating research impact to a researcher's career development
- Identifying and overcoming impedements to research impact
- working with organisations and use of tools to support research impact
