Dear Students,
Congratulations on your outstanding results and welcome to BA Business Economics and BA Business Economics with a Year in Industry. We are really looking forward to you joining us.
Your journey with us begins now and we are here to support you all the way. Upon your arrival, there will be a great deal of information communicated through a variety of channels and in different ways to which you are usually accustomed.
We aim to make your transition into University life and new ways of studying and learning as smooth and seamless as possible. All of the staff here at the Management School are here to offer our full support.
At this time, as you prepare to begin your studies, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with some of the texts we will be using during your first year:

- For your core Microeconomics: Frank R. H. and Cartwright E. (2016), “Microeconomics and Behaviour”, McGraw-Hill
- For ECON128: “The Economics Book” Author: Niall Kishtainy (2012)
- For ECON112: “The practice of statistics for business and economics (4thEdition)” Author: Moore, D; McCabe, G; Alwan, L; Craig, B (2016) OR “Introduction to the practice of statistics (9th Edition)” Author: Moore, D; McCabe, G; Craig, B (2017).

The University also has an Economics Society. I would encourage you to join as it's a great way to get to know other people from across the Business Economics and Economics programmes.
Please make sure to regularly check your timetable and to attend the events that have been scheduled for your programme.

Top three tips for University:
- Plan your time well! Include breaks throughout the day as well as setting clear boundaries of your time to do activities that you enjoy
- Make sure to try to immerse yourself in as many new activities or sports when you first arrive, as it is the perfect time to try something new
- Try and make use of all the study locations on campus as it is good to change up where you study every so often.
