This course is of value to health, management and social development specialists working in government, non government and academic settings worldwide who want to develop their consultancy skills. The course is a collaboration between LSTM and their dedicated consultancy and technical assistance company Liverpool Associates in Tropical Health (LATH).

Course Objective
To provide emerging national, regional and international consultants with an opportunity to enhance and improve their professional knowledge and skills in the provision and management of consultancy services within the context of international health and deliver work that is robust, evidence-based and grounded in the reality of resource-poor settings

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this intensive 3-week course participants will be able to:

Understand the context of key global initiatives and new developments in international health in their role as a consultant;
Demonstrate the skills required to work as an international consultant,
Describe the international health consultancy process and its management,
Deliver successful consultancies.

Entry Qualification

Masters level qualification or postgraduate professional qualification.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the health sector.
Experience of short-term project work, for example, consultancy or research projects, or work as an external advisor.
Commitment to international health development.
Interest in pro-poor and gender-equity approaches.
English language ability to IELTS level 6.5 or TOEFL 570 paper based exam or 88 iBT.

To enrich the learning experience we aim to achieve a balance of expertise and experience within each course intake.

A Complete Learning Package

Teaching methods include lectures, group exercises, case studies of actual consultancies and projects, analysis of real life scenarios, self-directed learning and tutorial support. Participatory approaches are encouraged throughout the module.
An exciting aspect of this course is the application of learning through project visits. This will include the opportunity for students to present their learning to outside agencies.
To further embed the skills developed, LATH aims to offer an opportunity for mentored consultancy to participants within one year of course completion.
