Learning & Teaching

LSTM offers a number of  postgraduate programmes leading to University of Liverpool Master, Diploma and Certificate awards, together with a variety of its own diploma, certificate and shorter courses.

All tuition in the School is provided in English. Students whose native language is not English must possess a suitable English Language qualification. A standard of 6.5 on the British Council English language Testing Service (ELTS) test is the normally accepted minimum.

For most courses, students will be expected to pass examinations and assessments, including, in some cases, practical and microscopic work. Students are therefore encouraged to declare any personal circumstances which may result in the need for arrangements or reasonable adjustments to be made in order to successfully participate in all aspects of the programme.

For those wishing to improve their level of English, the Applied English Language Studies Unit in the University can provide full-time language tuition to international students prior to commencement of study, as well as continuing part-time language support.

Information for visiting lecturers and external examiners

There are no specific deadline dates for applying for programmes but places are limited and applicants are advised to apply early. In particular overseas candidates should bear in mind that it can take up to three months to get a visa to study in the UK, and therefore a realistic deadline date for programmes starting in September is 1 July.
