Based in a new, £30 million Biosciences building, alongside other superb research facilities, we cover the whole spectrum of biology, from molecular to the whole organism, from biotechnology to ecology. In fact we're one of the UK's most complete Schools.

All of our courses incorporate the latest knowledge gained from our extensive research programmes and contain a strong practical component, focusing on today's most important issues.

Degree subject areas at-a-glance

Below you'll find a list of the areas of biology we cover, although there are no rigid boundaries. You'll find that our courses tend to span disciplines - providing you with truly innovative and original insights into the living world.

Incidentally, many of our new Undergraduates spend their first months sampling the different disciplines before choosing where (or even whether) to specialise. We welcome and support this.
