The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures announced the launch of its exciting new MA in Chinese-English Translating and Interpreting in the autumn of 2019. With the start of 2020 the department is now delighted to announce five international scholarships for students wishing to pursue this new MA, for entry in September 2020.

The five scholarships are to be awarded as follows:

• 2 £10,000 scholarships
• 3 £5,000 scholarships

All scholarships will be awarded after formal registration at the University and will take the form of a fee waiver. Please note: these scholarships cannot be combined with any other scholarships or bursaries provided by the University.

In addition to the entry requirements for the MA, applicants must be classified as international fee-paying students.

Application documents should include the following:

• Application form
• CV
• Relevant transcript and qualifications
• A personal statement (500 words) that outlines the applicant’s strengths and suitability for the MA, including (where appropriate) relevant translation and/or interpreting experience
• Any other relevant supporting documents.

Applications will be ranked and selected according to academic merit and suitability (e.g. relevant experience).

How to apply

Please complete a standard application for the MA. All applicants who meet the entry requirements and include the above documentation with their application will be automatically considered. Please note, however, that the deadline of 30 April 2020 applies. Those who apply for the MA after this date will not be considered for a scholarship.
