Aims

• To raise key issues concerning the gendered nature of crime in non-western & western contexts;
• Exploring non-western & western feminists’ contributions to criminology;
• Exploring the link between gender, race, class & religion and crime in conflict and non-conflict zones;
• Studying the experiences of female offenders from non-western & western countries;
• Exploring the relationship between gender, race, class & religion and media representation of crime in non-western & western contexts;
• Exploring the experiences of women (race, class & religion) as victims of online and offline crime in non-western & western contexts;


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) An understanding of non-western & western feminisms

(LO2) An understanding of feminist contributions to the study of criminology

(LO3) Possess knowledge of key debates within criminology concerning the nature of offending by men and women, the treatment of women in the criminal justice system and women's victimisation and fear of crime in non-western & western countries

Assessment 1 Policy Paper Students will write a paper for policy makers about issues that are relevant to the module. There is a resit opportunity. Standard UoL penalty applies for late su  -2400 words    80
