Aims

1. To plan for a Particiaptory Action Research dissertation project;

2. To develop an understanding of the theoretical perspectives that inform a Participatory Action Research approach;

3. To develop understanding of appropriate methods and activities for a Participatory Action Research approach;

4. To understand ethical considerations related to a Participatory Action Research approach.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) To produce a strategy for engaging in a Particiaptory Action Research project;

(LO2) Understanding Participatory Action Research within a theoretical and practice framework;

(LO3) Understanding of methodology appropriate to a Participatory Action Research;

Syllabus

 

The syllabus for this module contains three elements: (1) methods and practice (2) theoretical and policy perspectives (3) reflexive learning and ethical practice. These elements are brought together through the workshops where you will be encouraged to learn through a cyclical process of action and reflection, and active collaborative with participants throughout the project life.

Teaching Method 1 - Workshop
Description: The workshop will provide an opportunity for you to discuss and be supported in planning and negiotating with an organisation/community you have identified as appropriate for your Participatory Action Research. In this sense the workshops are student-led addressing practice issues related to Participatory Action Research.
