Syllabus

Preparing and presenting the project proposal is an exercise in working within a group structure to produce a scientific proposal that can be presented to a funding body. This will require an understanding of the physics involved, the ability to communicate that physics to lay and expert audiences, an appreciation of the need to plan projects and of some of the tools used in project management. Groups will be of about 5 students with an academic observer. An initial lecture will be used to explain the proposals and introduce some management tools. A series of meetings with an academic observer will be held to discuss the work on the proposal. The onus will be on the students to organise these meetings, and any further meetings they feel are necessary to organise their work.
