This module seeks to prepare students for performance of ensemble repertoire.

(LO1) To be able to undertake a short ensemble performance suitable for public presentation.

(LO2) To be able to use personal reflection in the service of personal improvement as a performer.

(LO3) To be able to demonstrate sufficient technical proficiency in performance of repertoire appropriate to the chosen music performance specialism.

(LO4) To be able to demonstrate sufficient interpretive understanding in performance of repertoire appropriate to the chosen music performance specialism.

(S1) Communication. Listening and questioning respecting others, contributing to discussions, communicating in a foreign language, influencing, presentations.

(S2) Positive attitude/ self-confidence. A 'can-do' approach, a readiness to take part and contribute; openness to new ideas and the drive to make these happen.

Module content will depend partly on the student's specialism and also on the combination of students in the cohort. One-to-one lessons will be with a specialist tutor in the relevant area.

Students will be expected to prepare performance materials to be presented in the class workshops. A participation schedule adapting to the needs of the cohort will be drawn up at the beginning of the semester.

Teaching method: Workshop/ structured online activities.
Description: Performance workshops in a group setting for tutor-led peer review.

Notes: Workshop sessions and video diaries give students an opportunity to try out what they have been practising. Students will share own performances with the rest of the year group for peer review and feedback.

Teaching method: Tutorial.
Description: Individual instrumental lessons with a dedicated specialist.

Notes: Students arrange their lessons with mutual agreement from their allocated tutor.

Self-directed learning: Private practice, rehearsals with others, concert attendance / study of texts (recordings, documents, scores) appropriate to instrument and programme, developing writing skills, keeping a performance diary, preparation for assessments.
