Aims |

To introduce students to mixing and production techniques in a DAW To enable students to use a DAW to professionally produce electronic music To develop students’ audio editing techniques to a high level in a creative context To develop students’ knowledge of synthesis and sampling technologies |

• The history and electronic music and sampling • Advance audio editing, time correction, warping and time stretching • Groove templates, quantizing and beat matching • Sampling and sample instruments • Synthesis and sampling techniques • Mixing electronic music in a DAW |
Teaching and Learning Strategies |
|
Teaching method: Lectures Teaching method: Workshops Self-directed learning: Students will need to both experiment with and practise the techniques covered in lectures and seminars. They should spend a minimum of two hours per week practising and preparing audio material in the department's Mac Suites. There will be a listening list as well as a reading list and students will need to become familiar with a range of electronic music genres to better position themselves and their practice within a wider context. |
