Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Lecture
Description: Video introduce students to the technical and practical issues. These include stereo microphone techniques, editing and sound processing in Protools. Practical demonstrations and examples will build on knowledge already acquired in MUSI108. Lectures will be uploaded to Canvas the week before.

Teaching Method 2 - Practical
Description: Practicals are held in the recording studio. The lecturer will guide students through practical exercises enabling students to further advance their studio skills through hands-on experience working in the studio environment.

Teaching Method 3 – Seminars
Description: Group sessions in which students will listen to and discuss recordings in order to develop critical listening skills. Chosen recording will relate to the video lecture posted the previous week. Students will also be taught ear training exercises for improving aural skills relating to production techniques such as E Q and compression.

The majority of teaching will be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience.
