Aims |
|
The overarching aim of the module is to enhance the employability of students. Employability will be enhanced in a range of ways but all of these will devolve onto the level of professionalism exhibited by individual students. To be allowed to participate fully in a range of managerial specialisms is an opportunity afforded to very few, it is the students' individual responsibility to maximise this opportunity. |
Learning Outcomes |

(LO1) The student will be conversant with the day-to-day routines of management across a range of specialisms. |

(LO2) The student will be aware of their own self-development within the context of a work-place. |

(LO3) The student will be able to analyse and itemise the 'working parts' of a complex music organisation and will be able to discuss the challenges associated with this complexity that management must address and resolve. |

(LO4) The employability of the student will be enhanced through a combination of attention to task, refexivity in regard to the performance of tasks, reporting analytically on their performance but also on the role they have shadowed in a complex organisation. |

Syllabus |
|
As this is a work placement module, the syllabus is, essentially, what is learned through the experience of shadowing managers at the Philharmonic. In this way, it will build on the first semester module that involves a series of guest appearances by Philharmonic managers - MUSI541 - Managing Classical Music. |
