Aims

To develop accuracy and fluency in notation. To realise practical knowledge of instruments in relation to different compositional tasks. To refine and expand knowledge of 20th/21st-century styles, languages and approaches. To develop self-critical skills. To provide experience in working with musical forms.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) To use the Sibelius notation software at an intermediate level.

(LO2) To demonstrate an advanced understanding of formal archetypes across a range of musical idioms.

(LO3) To demonstrate competency in notating composition assignments.

(LO4) To engage with aesthetic aspects of music composition.

(LO5) To expand familiarity and understanding of classical music repertoire.
