Syllabus |

Students will choose one book from a short list to focus their work on; appropriate secondary literature, passages for commentary, and an essay title will be agreed in consultation with the academic supervisor. Titles may vary from year to year according to academic staff availability. Initially the choice will be from the following texts: Thomas Mann, Der Tod in Venedig (1911); Günter Grass, Katz und Maus (1961); Christa Wolf, Der geteilte Himmel (1963); UIrich Plenzdorf, Die neuen Leiden des jungen W. (1973). |
