This course is taught in 3 weekly classes, with a tutorial week in week 7. One hour of this course is dedicated to language with a Landeskunde specific component and year abroad preparation. One hour is dedicated to work placement-related language and listening and speaking practical skills for the year abroad. 1 hour fortnightly grammar in odd weeks, 1 hour fortnightly translation and interpreting in even weeks.

Aims

This module aims to assist students in developing their skills in written and spoken German to an advanced level, also in a work context, and practice listening skills and read extensive texts in German.


Learning Outcomes

Students will demonstrate high degree of comprehension of authentic material in German in reading, writing, speaking and listening. 

Ability to apply high standard grammar in written and spoken German.

Ability to apply basic skills in translation techniques

Ability to apply research skills

Ability to apply work-related German language skills


Teaching and Learning Strategies
