Teaching and Learning Strategies

The majority of teaching will be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience.

This module is delivered in four contact-hours per week distributed as follows: two hours of grammar and written skills, one hour of speaking skills and one hour of reading and listening skills and pronunciation in a language laboratory. The socio-cultural content is integrated across lectures, seminars and the lab in all four hours; therefore, regular attendance is very important in order to progress swiftly to the expected level at the end of the module. Students are also expected to undertake regular independent language learning to keep building and reinforcing their language skills and to schedule at least a one-to-one session with tutor mid-semester.

Seminar:
Two hours per week of general language teaching, one hour per week of listening practice and one hour per week of c onversation practice.

Tutorial:
Two hours per week of general language teaching, one hour per week of listening practice and one hour per week of conversation practice.

Laboratory Work:
Two hours per week of general language teaching, one hour per week of listening practice and one hour per week of conversation practice.
