Aims

To further develop receptive skills in reading and listening as well as productive skills in writing and speaking at pre-intermediate level;

To further deepen understanding and appreciation of Chinese society, culture and customs.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Be able to write approximately 750 Chinese characters and read articles at post-intermediate level.

(LO2) Be able to master approximately 200 patterns of key sentence structure, demonstrate deeper knowledge of Chinese grammar at post-intermediate level.

(LO3) Be able to make conversations about daily life on a variety of topics.

(LO4) Demonstrate deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese society, culture and customs.

(S1) Communication (oral, written and visual) - presentation skills - written.

(S2) Communication (oral, written and visual) - presentation skills – oral.

(S3) Communication (oral, written and visual) - listening skills.

(S4) Global citizenship - cultural awareness.


Teaching and Learning Strategies

The majority of teaching will be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience.

One lecture and three seminars per week.
