Description: The module is taught through two weekly classes and one language laboratory session. Consistent use of the target language, individual research, the personal contribution of students and a collaborative approach are key elements of the module. The module is intensive and students are expected to attend and take active part in all sessions and to hand in regular directed work. It is essential to follow up classes with further extensive reading and listening activities using the range of supporting multimedia facilities located either in the Language Lounge or in the Sydney Jones Library. Contemporary Italian life and culture are explored through a variety of journalistic and literary texts, films and documentaries. To foster a reflective and independent approach to learning students are encouraged to compile a personal learning diary in preparation for project work.
