Aims

To allow students to develop their reading knowledge of a specific topic related to Italian culture;

To further students' linguistic skills in Italian;

To enable students to understand texts in their historical, political, social and literary contexts;

To develop students' research skills through targeted tasks;

To develop students' academic writing skills.

Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Students will demonstrate their understanding of an Italian-language text in its context

(LO2) Students will develop their reading skills in both Italian and English

(LO3) Students will develop their research skills.

(LO4) Students will develop their academic writing style and demonstrate their understanding of correct formatting

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Supervision:
Students will meet regularly with an academic supervisor in order to discuss reading progress and to gain feedback on the assignments.

Syllabus
 

Students will choose a topic to focus their work on; the type of text and the nature of the project may vary and should be agreed between the student and the allocated supervisor. Examples of types of texts may include: literary, historical and audio-visual texts.
