Aims

Develop proficient linguistic competence to deal with a wide range of linguistic, intercultural and professional contexts confidently;

Acquire a proficient linguistic ability to discuss topics of Italian interest orally and in writing;

Acquire a proficient ability to translate out of Italian and to act as a liaison interpreter;

Extend and deepen knowledge of aspects of Italian culture.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Seminar:
One hour of liaison interpreting, one hour of translation out of Italian and one hour of language seminar. The translation work will include analysis of published translations in order to deepen the students’ critical evaluation of translated texts. The skills-based language seminar will form the basis for written and oral production, and it will explore commercials and advertising campaigns to investigate aspects of Italian culture and society.
