Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Supervision
Description: Six sessions with an academic supervisor individually or in groups provide students with the opportunity to plan and complete their extended project in a structured fashion. Supervisions provide the opportunity to identify suitable topics and refine the focus of the project as well as to discuss the elements of the Assessment Portfolio (critical bibliography, outline plan, abstract, draft section) as students work towards completion of the Final Extended Project.
Attendance Recorded: Yes

Syllabus

The precise subject matter and topic chosen for the project will depend on the optional modules available in German at level 5 in the first semester and on the student's individual interest in these areas. The module to which GRMN230 relates is normally German-themed content module and MODL modules covering a range of language areas may serve as the basis of GRMN230 only with approval of the Subject Lead. Typically these modules cover the range of areas in German Studies taught in Liverpool: history, literature, film and linguistics. Six structured supervisions individually and in groups provide students a framework within which to develop their work and receive feedback and act upon it. Supervisions will help students to identify their chosen topic, refine their focus and identify areas for further development as they complete the tasks mapped out in the Assessment Portfolio (20% of the module mark) and the Final Extended Project (80%).
