Aims |

To expose students to a range of literary styles and genres in both English and French, encouraging them to conduct close literary analyses of texts; To enhance students’ translation skills through a close reading of the source text; To develop students' self-reflective skills, encouraging them to think critically about and justify translation choices. |
Learning Outcomes |

Teaching weeks will focus alternately on thème and on version, so students will be exposed to an equal number of texts to translate from French-English and from English-French. Certain weeks will include dedicated seminars to practising commentary writing and to introducing students to, and developing, their use of technical translation terminology. There will also be two weeks during which students will take a formative mock exam to prepare them for the final exam. |
