Aims

The module aims at further improving students' fluency in written and spoken Basque. Further aims are:

To consolidate and extend students' prior language skills;
Acquire an excellent command of Basque grammar and above all be able to apply it in a diverse range of contexts, by using appropriate writing and oral skills;
Encourage regular independent learning.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Maintain a normal conversation in proper standard Basque on a wide range of topics.

(LO2) Understand a wide range of texts in standard Basque.

(LO3) Know about the different Basque dialects and be able to recognize them.

(LO4) Express themselves in writing with accuracy and with few or no mistakes, making use of a wide range of resources.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Lecture
Description: Classes will include exercises in the following: - reading and listening comprehension - vocabulary study - grammar exercises - essay writing In all lessons the four linguistic skills will be taken into account: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The materials to be used have been designed to allow students to practise at least two of the skills in each lesson. Materials include a wide array or exercises including; - grammar - reading comprehension - listening - speaking - writing

Self-Directed Learning Description: Independent Learning includes homework, vocabulary review, grammar review, essay writing and reading.
