Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching method: seminar.
The module is taught four hours per week (Grammar and Written, Oral and Listening) except in tutorial week. Grammar and written are dedicated to the comprehension, analysis and especially production of texts in different genres in Spanish. Students will learn how to write specific text-types, each of which demands a particular form, style, register and vocabulary. Advanced translation skills will also be developed; texts will cover a variety of genres and styles. Students will be required to produce and submit translations of specified passages in a variety of genres without the aid of a dictionary and to explain and defend their rendering in class. The module also tackles diverse points of higher sentence grammar. Students will also improve and practice listening comprehension both in classes and through independent work with audio-visual and audio material and converse on current topics often inspired by a video. Student will also present and deliver through personal oral presentations different topics of Spanish culture.

Syllabus

Advanced grammar subjects will be tackled as well as advanced written, oral and aural work in Spanish language. Students will write extensive pieces of work in various genres and learn to speak in various registers and in various situations.

The Syllabus is to be found in the Module Handbook (accessible through VITAL/CANVAS). Each student is issued with a detailed Weekly Schedule for the Module at the beginning of the Semester.
