Aims |

To explore aspects of contemporary Catalan culture through the medium of Catalan; To develop all the skills necessary to begin to communicate confidently in spoken and written Catalan; To develop useful language learning strategies and the ability to work collaboratively and independently; T o acquire wide-ranging skills in literary analysis. |

Topics covered during the module may include: Introduction: Basic orthography and pronunciation. Ésser. Articles; Foreign overview of Catalonia: Present tense. Possessive adjectives; Catalan language territory: Present tense. Simple prepositions and contractions, adverbs of place and prepositions; The Catalan language: Present and present continuous. Interrogatives. Adjectives; History: Present and periphrastic past; Art: Periphrastic past. Possessives. Adjectives and agreement; Literature: Revision basic statements, questions, negation ; Geography: Imperfect; Customs and traditions: More on past tenses; Christmas in Catalonia: Relative pronouns. |
