Aims

This module aims to assist students in developing their skills in written and spoken German to an advanced level, also in a work context, and practice listening skills and read extensive texts in German;

To provide students with grammar skills;

To provide students with skills in translation techniques;

To provide students with basic skills in interpreting;

To provide students with oral techniques;

To provide students with research skills in the target language;

To equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to embark on their Year Abroad with confidence and to make the experience a success;

To equip students for a work environment in German.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Seminar
Description: This module is taught in three weekly classes, with a tutorial week in week seven. One hour of is dedicated to language with a Landeskunde specific component and year abroad preparation. One hour is dedicated to listening and speaking practical skills including work placement-related language for the year abroad. One hour is dedicated to translation and interpreting and grammar points.
