Aims |

To introduce certain basic methodologies used in arts and cultural studies. |
Learning Outcomes |
|
(LO1) Students will be able to describe and apply the appropriate core analytical approaches and methods used in English Literature, History and Philosophy. |
|
(LO2) Students will be able to observe and interpret a text using close reading techniques. |
|
(LO3) Students will be able to use introductory research skills, including library skills, appropriate to English Literature, Philosophy and History. |
|
(LO4) Students will be able to discuss in broad terms the ways in which certain cultures understand and express their worlds. |
|
(LO5) Students will be able to describe certain key characteristics of Enlightenment (or other) cultures. |
|
(S1) Students will demonstrate subject awareness in English Literature, History and Philosophy. |
|
(S2) Students will demonstrate skills in critical thinking. |

(S3) Students will demonstrate confidence in academic reading and writing. |

(S4) Students will demonstrate skills in developing an argument. |
