Aims |
|
To equip students with the skills and habits of an active, self-directed learner. To explore key themes from a variety of academic perspectives, e.g., sociology, history, philosophy, law and literature. To develop confidence in academic research and writing; library skills; critical thinking; constructing evidence-based argument; and communication skills. |

Syllabus |
|
This module runs alongside modules in Arts and Cultures (GOHI003) and Social Sciences (GOHI004) in semester one to support the acquisition of skills needed for academic success. Sessions and learning are aligned to build the skills needed for each disciplinary module assessment. Classes typically cover: time management; note-taking and classroom etiquette; academic reading and writing; research and library skills; critical thinking; creating and delivering presentations; communication and debate; IT and digital knowhow. |
