Aims

This course aims to reach a broad expanse of students who are interested in either/and ancient history, the history of art, the philosophies of asthetics, and renaissance studies.

Syllabus

 

Ancient Greek art has been a major inspiration to other societies from Ancient Rome to the present day. Discover how artistic forms developed throughout the Ancient Greek world and learn about the potters, painters and sculptors who created them. The course will include a visit to the Walker Art Gallery in central Liverpool.

4.        Ancient Greek sculpture (Lecture and visit to sculpture gallery, Walker Art Gallery)
5.        The influence of Greek art on ancient Rome and other societies
