Aims

This course aims to attract students to a cross-disciplinary subject

This course aims to encourage an awareness of the continuation of ancient artistic principles in modern art and architecture


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Students will be able to distinguish between Romano British art forms and art of the rest of the Roman world.

(LO2) Students will acquire a knowedge base of the topic sufficient for further study at a more advanced level

Syllabus

 

The art and architecture of Roman Britain is an eclectic mixture of local and external influences. This short course will present the variety of the architecture, sculpture, wall painting and mosaics found in the Roman province of Britannia. One of the sessions will take place in the Garstang Museum on the university campus.
