Aims |

To explore the philosophical themes in Gide's writing. To situate Gide's throught within the wider context of existentialism. To analyse key ideas in Gide's core text The Immoralist. |

Introduction: André Paul Guillaume Gide's writings. TheNobel Prize, sexuality and the struggle for Value. Thenovel The Immoralist ( 1902): t he art of living immorally. Existential thought: criticalapproaches to morality. Reflections on key themes: ethics and moral philosophy. |
