Aims |

To introduce you to a wide range of texts from the Romantic and pre-Romantic period. To improve reading skills specific to those texts. To give you an informed sense of the wider cultural history of the time and the interconnections between different forms of writing in the period. |

Syllabus |
|
The module focuses on the period of English literature of the Romantic period (roughly 1770-1830). The two lectures each week will cover a range of authors and themes in the period. Because of time constraints, not all texts / themes will be covered in the tutorials. The module contains appreciably more poetry than prose. The subject of each week's tutorial will be decided by the individual tutor, however, a typical tutorial syllabus (based on the lectures) might be as follows: |
