Aims

To introduce effective learning techniques for presenting & defending complex technical arguments


Learning Outcomes

Literacy: application of literacy, ability to produce clear, structured oral literacy - including listening and questioning


Syllabus

Presentation of data and technical arguments orally
Ingredients of a presentation. 
Presentation effectiveness. 
Audience awareness. 
Energizing your presentation.
Responding to questions/criticism/feedback from reviewers and committees.


Teaching and Learning Strategies

Lecture - The flipped classroom approach will be utilised with a lecture at the beginning the session in which the pre-session directed learning will be reviewed.

Student Generated Content (e.g. MCQs, video) - Elevator pitch on research/technical project

Role Play - Students will be asked in groups to present technical work to a technical committee

Formative Feedback (e.g. peer, revision sessions) - Detailed feedback on the role play will be provided.
