Aims

This module seeks to introduce students to the concepts, theories and frameworks relating to the management of people within diverse business and organisational environments. The module will seek to support the development of subject specific and transferable skills necessary for future employment in careers which have a people management component. Students will engage with a wide selection of case studies to explore, derive, and present solutions to a range of challenges relating to the management of people in a variety of organisations and contexts

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method: Lecture
Description: Weekly 2-hour lecture covering relevant theory, content and concepts related to the management of people in contemporary organisational contexts.

Teaching Method: Seminar
Description: Bi-weekly (2 hour) seminar sessions where students apply theory and concepts from lectures to a related case stud. Students will also have the opportunity to present case study solutions for formative feedback in preparation for their assessed case submission.

Self-Directed Learning Hours: 114
Self-directed learning hours can involve additional reading and research related to module topics, preparatory work for seminars, and the preparation of responses to case questions in a presentation format for their bi-weekly seminars. Students may also use this time to work in their teams to prepare th eir assessed group case presentation and to prepare their individual written assessment work.
