Aims

To introduce students to the ways in which the football industry is subject to legal regulation;

To enable students to identify, understand and analyse the processes and forces of law in this area.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Understanding the basic processes of UK and EU law;

(LO2) Understand how the law regulates the football industry;

(LO3) Identify specific legal problems in football industry regulations and practices;

(LO4) Access, understand and use primary legal material.

(S1) Adaptability. Students will develop an awareness of how the law changes the football business.

(S2) Problem-solving skills. Students will be required to apply the law to scenario based problems.

(S3) Commercial awareness. Students will develop an awareness of commercial pressures of the football business.

(S4) Teamwork. Developed during group work in scenario discussion and negotiation exercise.

(S5) Organisation skills. Students will be required to meet assignment deadlines.

(S6) Communication skills. Developed during assignment presentation, negotiation exercise.

(S7) IT Skills. Developed during assignment preparation.

(S8) International awareness. Students will develop an awareness of impact of EU and international law and regulation.

(S9) Lifelong Learning skills. Developed during assignment presentation, negotiation exercise.
