Aims

This module aims to provide an integrated introduction to the drivers and processes of innovation and its application within a range of different situations, from entrepreneurial innovation to innovation and intrapreneurship within larger organisations. The module aims to:
Critically evaluate the drivers and importance of innovation for organisations
Explore the role of knowledge in innovation and creativity
Apply models and concepts from interdisciplinary innovation literature to the student’s own and other contexts
Critically reflect on what leads to successful innovation in mature organisations and entrepreneurial small firms.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Online (synchronous and asynchronous)

Lectures are no longer than one hour blocks and will provide students with the opportunities to engage and discuss.

A range of different examples will allow students to analyse innovation and entrepreneurship in different business situations

Exercises can be used interchangeably with case studies to allow students to apply concepts and to reflect on their learning.

Students will be expected to complete schedule directed module pre-reading, to prepare for some exercises, tasks and assessments during the module and to research, develop and write a final written assessment. In addition to the suggested readings, students might be expected to develop their own reading, research and preparation of topics for the final assessment.
